Hawkins UMC Mission Statement The mission of our local congregation is to develop disciples of Jesus Christ and send them out to serve in the community and the world.
Last Recorded Sermon: July 12, 2015 - God’s Grace and a Changed Life - Rev. Susannah Grubbs Carr
It is once again time for casual and comfortable worship! During the month of August come in your casual clothes as we enjoy a homecoming style worship atmosphere.
Camp Meeting is a style of worship in the United Methodist Tradition that has been around a long time. It brings with it a rich and timeless tradition where Christian fellowship is primary, and worship centers on spiritual renewal and the re-commitment to discipleship.
We will be singing some of the good old Gospel songs we know and love and learning some praise and worship hymns as well.
Sunday August 2nd: The Rev. Dr. Carl Grubbs (aka Rev. Susannah’s dad) will be preaching and presiding over communion
Sunday August 9th: Back to School Sunday with the “Blessing of the Backpacks”
August and September: “Beyond the Stained Glass Window”, a new sermon series
Please invite a friend, plan to dress casually, and come with an open heart for singing, fellowship, and worship.
See you there!
"Beyond the Stained Glass Window"
Stained glass windows are one of the most beautiful parts of any worship space. In the ancient cathedrals of our tradition stained glass windows adorn the walls of these sacred spaces with majesty and beauty. This art form was the best way for these congregations of long ago to learn the biblical story. The vibrant colors and extraordinary artistry make stained glass windows one of the most inspirational parts of sitting in the sacred space of a church.
Hawkins UMC indeed has beautiful stained glass windows that bring the biblical stories to life in our sanctuary. In August and September Reverend Susannah will be preaching a new sermon series “Beyond the Stained Glass Window” as she invites us to reflect on the biblical story and message with our stained glass windows as the guide.

Come worship with us! There is a place for you!
I would like to personally invite you to come and see what God is up to here at Hawkins through joining us for worship and other special events that we offer throughout the week and the year. Being disciples of Jesus Christ means that we take seriously our role as ambassadors for Christ in the world around us, and we believe that God gives us all a special gift to share with the body of believers.
We hope the information you find here is helpful to visitors and to our members alike. If we can help you in any way, please contact us by phone or email. There is a place here for you! May God bless you today and every day!
Peace in the midst,
Susannah Grubbs Carr
